Bradwell pick up 3 points on their return to the rec

Bradwell welcomed Bovingdon on this bank holiday fixture, for their first home game of the campaign. This fixture was the start of a run of home games for Bradwell, following 3 on the road. This weekend seemed to be a challenge for numerous clubs with availability, but Bradwell were boosted by some returning faces.

There was not too much to note from the opening minutes, with both sides working each other out. You won't find many pitches as big as the one at the rec, and this seemed to suit Bovingdon as they looked to consistently switch play to their wingers, who consistently hugged the touchline, regardless of where the ball was. Individual battles were being controlled by the defenders of both teams, who were standing firm.

It took until 37 for someone to make a breakthrough, and it was through Kalek. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3qifeRyr4wQ)
A corner was sent in from Mallett, which evaded everyone and enabled Kalek to nod home from close range.

Just before the half, some patient build up play saw Hawkins with a pinpoint cross-field pass to Roberts, how drove on and crossed to Winch on the six yard box. He couldn't keep his header under the bar. Too much time? Maybe.

Half Time: New Bradwell 1 - 0 Bovingdon

The second half started much the same, with the defenders from both team controlling the game.

The next opportunity of note was for Bradwell with a cross sent in for Kalek to meet with a powerful header, but this time it flew over the bar.

As time drew on, the game became stretched, and the effect of the quick turn around from the weekend was starting to look evident. Some fresh legs from both teams gave a little injection of pace momentarily, but not enough to change the whole ethos of the game.

Bovingdon continued to push for an equaliser, and looked particularly dangerous from a couple of corners deep into injury time, but Bradwell stayed strong.

Full Time: New Bradwell 1 - 0 Bovingdon

In reality, a difficult watch for a bumper crowd. 3 points on the board for Bradwell.
