3 more points on the road

Bradwell started bank holiday weekend with a 3rd away trip in a row to newcomers Risborough. Both teams came into the fixture on the back of impressive away wins. A much changed Bradwell welcomed new signing Jake Roberts, as well as the return of Nathan Mallett from illness into the squad.

The opening exchanges were a little cagey, with both teams trying to make inroads. Bradwell made a couple of half chances but nothing to really test the keeper. They were however forced into an early change, with Anning being replaced by Wigg.

Some good play by Roberts down the right, earned a throw in deep into Risborough territory. This was taken quickly and resulted in Wigg squaring the ball to Kalek, who found himself in from of goal and struck well to finish. This sparked Bradwell into laugh, and they continued to probe, but the Risborough defence held still.

It was soon to be Risborough on the attack, as the tricky winger cut inside before striking a curled effort, which deflected off of a Bradwell defender and onto the bar. This was the only real time of danger to this point.

There were a few more efforts from Bradwell again without breakthrough, until just before the half. From a Risborough set piece, Bradwell broke quickly after Wigg managed to get a toe in before the defender. The rest of the defence was nowhere to be seen, and the battle was only between Winch and Wigg as to who was going to carry the ball from half way in on goal. Winch duly obliged and drove forwards to slot the ball through the keeper to make it 2 on 41.

Half Time: Risborough 0 - 2 New Bradwell

The start of the second half was a bit of a whirlwind. Needless to say, Twitter Guy V2 was a little bit excited. Bradwell played forward early and pressed to win the ball back. Lee, who was again outstanding at the back, won the ball well with it falling to Kalek, who in turn clipped a delightful pass into the path of Wigg, who took the opportunity to volley over the keeper. A minute into the second half and Bradwell sensed an opportunity to drive on, which proved to be right, with a quickfire second from Winch on 48. This summer signing certainly looks like he is settling in well. But for a save from the Risborough keeper, we would have seen 3 goals in 5 minutes.

Bradwell continued to dominate, and looked dangerous through Bradford and Wigg, both worked tirelessly to put pressure on their opposing players.

Shortly after Risborough were handed some form of lifeline. Roberts who had been excellent on his debut followed his man back into the area, before the winger cut back inside. Roberts dangled a leg in mid air, and the referee kindly obliged and pointed to the spot. The reaction of players always says so much in these situations. Nothing from Risborough, dismay from Bradwell. Questionable would be nice...
The penalty was converted, and Burberry had the opportunity to use his hands for the first time in the afternoon.

The next spell of play was all Risborough, who took confidence from the penalty. A couple of changes from Bradwell, and with fresh legs this pressure subsided, with only one real chance created.

Normal service resumed on 77, with Bradwell coming back into the game strongly. Mallett was busy since entering the game, and should have got himself on the score sheet, before the ball fell to Bradford, who has probably cost a defender and the keeper a £1 each, as his finish just inside the box looked to travel through the legs of both. This in reality was the last piece of play in note before the end of the game.
