Opening day victory followed up with another

After having week 2 without a fixture, Bradwell returned to league action with a trip to Sarratt. This has been the undoing of many teams, with Sarratt making full use of home advantage over previous campaigns. The squad was bolstered with players returning from holiday, injury and a new signing, much the same as most teams at this time of year.

A confident start set the tone for the whole match, dominating the ball and tempo from the get go. The early exchanges were all controlled by Bradwell, probing and testing a well organised defensive Sarratt unit. The opening goal eventually came on 15 when Winch was played in and fired across into the far corner past the diving keeper.

Sarratt were persistent in trying to breakthrough, and on the odd occasion they did, Burberry in the Bradwell goal was up to the test, in particular, from a well struck free kick from 25 yards. The rest of the half saw Bradwell continue to dominate and pepper the goal, being either off target, or saved by the keeper.

Half Time: Sarratt 0 - 1 New Bradwell

The second half started in exactly the same fashion, with Bradwell continuing to dominate. The second came quickly with Winch being slid in just left of centre. He was actively pushed left, but in this instance, that made no difference, as he gladly obliged and again fired across goal into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance.

There was no let up and Bradwell's tempo remained consistent. Sarratt worked hard to try and get a foothold in the game, but to no avail. Their challenge was not helped by the introduction of Wigg and Webb, who took over from the impressive Winch and Ryan Lee. Wigg had a couple of sighters before driving past 2 defenders starting at the half, before cutting back inside and cutely curling into the far corner to make it 3.

Sarratt did receive some reward for their effort, when they took advantage of a slip on the Bradwell left, before crossing to the back post, for an oncoming player to finish powerfully from close range. It inspired somewhat of a fightback, but in reality it was too little too late in the context of the game.

Bradwell re-took control of the game, and added a fourth in stoppage time, when Webb was played in down the right. Instead of taking on the strike with he right foot, he cut back inside on his left, and drove his strike high and central into the back of the net.

Full Time: Sarratt 1 - 4 New Bradwell

A completely dominant performance from start to finish, with some very impressive individual displays. Bradwell were well deserving of the final scoreline, and can now turn their attention to the bank holiday weekend, with 2 games in 3 days.
